“Amazon: Don’t Blink!” CAUSE Inaugurates New Leadership, Honors Founding Generation

A Constitution built by workers. A new government elected by workers. On Saturday, August 29, Amazon workers from across CAUSE held a Constitutional Convention and adopted a new Constitution for Carolina Amazonians United for Solidarity & Empowerment.
The Convention also elected the officers who will lead our first constitutional government:
· President-elect Italo Medelius, SNC3
· Vice President-elect Mary Hill, RDU1
· Secretary of the Treasury-elect Monique Ingram, RDU1
· Secretary of the Union-elect Emma Parent, RDU1
· Secretary of the Exterior-elect Ras Ran Amon, RDU1
· Secretary of the Interior-elect Kyle Brouhard, RDU5
· Secretary of Communications-elect Edgar Arrieta Reyes, SNC3
The Constitution also recognizes President Rev. Ryan Brown and Mary Hill as Co-Founders and continuing members of the Executive Branch.
For months, CAUSE workers debated what kind of Union we wanted to build, how power should be exercised, what rights every member should possess, and how workers across different Amazon facilities could govern ourselves together. On Saturday, we formed that worker-led Republic. Now, we turn our eyes toward the Empire. On Labor Day, September 7, our newly elected officers take office.

Statement from September 8, 2026
What a Labor Day! Yesterday, there was hardly an empty inch in the room as Amazon workers, elected officials, clergy, labor and community allies, friends, and family packed together to witness a new chapter in the history of CAUSE.
Amazing members of the Durham City Council joined us, along with county commissioners and so many of the people who have stood beside us through the years.
One by one, our newly elected officers raised their hands and took their oaths of office. And with those oaths, CAUSE crossed an important threshold: from the "Moses" generation that founded this union and carried it through its earliest struggles to a second "Joshua" generation entrusted with carrying that work forward.
There was laughter. There were tears. There was a broken air conditioner. There was champagne. And above all, there was a room overflowing with people who believe Amazon workers deserve a union of their own.
To everyone who squeezed into that room with us: thank you. To our founding generation: thank you for bringing us here. And to the workers who now inherit what they built: the work begins. From the final words of yesterday's inaugural address: Amazon - don't blink!
